New version Performance Monitor (release 2020.2)

On July 9, 2020, we released a new version of Performance Monitor for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases. The most important functions added in the application are: shared Dashboard, database object size monitor for Oracle and SQL Server, forecasting object size analysis and query explorer for Oracle and SQL Server databases.

Shared Dashboard
The new Dashboard screen allows you to simultaneously view all databases from each version of the DBPLUS application (Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQL) on one screen. The screen presents the most important performance statistics compared online to the trend calculated for a given database. The dashboard also presents information about alerts, which significantly shortens the response time to problems in a given database.

Object Size Exlplorer – size monitor
In the latest version, we have added the functionality of collecting information about the size of objects in the monitored database (Oracle, SQL Server). From now on, it will be possible to verify the space size by a given object over time.
Collecting information about the size of objects is a function launched on demand by the user (disabled by default). The data on objects size are collected at two-hour intervals and saved to the repository database.

Forecasting changes in database size
In the latest version of the application, we have introduced the functionality of predicting the use of disk space in the database. This functionality will easily help each database administrator to predict the size of the database and facilitate the Capacity Planning process. Forecasting the database size is calculated on the basis of data collected by DBPLUS applications and stored in the repository database. Forecasting can be made on the basis of historical data from the last 3 or 6 months as well as the entire year.

Query Object Explorer – query monitor
In the latest version, we have introduced the ability to analyze query objects – Object Explorer. The functionality allows you to analyze in detail the objects that are part of a given query, which means it speeds up the performance analysis, e.g. whether the optimal index is used in the query. The functionality is especially useful in the case of queries based on views, thanks to Object Explorer it is easy to obtain information about assigning a column in a query to a dedicated table from a view.

Access to software updates
The DBPLUS software is updated at least 4 times a year. Customers have access to all updates when they have a license or maintenance service. With the upgrade to the latest version, the application will run faster and smoother. Each published version provides new functionalities that allow for easier management and performance improvement in the monitored database.
