15 April 2018, we have released a new version of Performance Monitor for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. The most important functions added in the application are: improvements in generate PLAN GUIDE script, improvements in query search by FIND SQL and changes in session view.
Generate PLAN GUIDE
In the functions that enable the preview of the execution plan, i.a.: Session, Performance-> Sql Analyze, Performance-> Sql Details an improvement was made to generate the PLAN GUIDE script. This function is particularly useful in situations where the database engine changes the execution plan to a worse one. Very often when the plan changes, the execution time increases and the slow-running query can be a source of other performance problems (e.g. extended transaction, locks increase). When user put the plan on the PLAN GUIDE mechanism, they set a definite execution plan on which the query should run. The upgrade is available for SQL Server.
Improvements in query search
In the new version for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, the search method for queries using the FIND SQL function available in the SQL Details screen has been extended. The method of display additional statistics for query search has been modified. In each tab information about Elapsed Time, Cpu Time, number of executions, number of read, saved and returned blocks has been added. The analysis of queries that change the execution plan has also been improved. We added additional information grouped by modules: statistics with a summary for all performance plans on which the query worked, statistics with a summary for the slowest and fastest execution plan, comparison of the slowest and the fastest, estimation of the possible reduction of query time duration.
Page of the history of active sessions and sessions using UNDO
In the new application for Oracle, on the page of the history of active sessions and sessions using UNDO, cumulative indicators for monitored sessions have been introduced. In the main screen, information about the number of sessions using UNDO space, number of records / changes in Undo and size of changes in UNDO has been added.
Real Application Clusters (RAC) support
In the version for Oracle using RAC architectures in all tabs in the Sessions Screen (Sessions, Sort Usage session, Undo usage session, Session, History) in the results and filters a field with the instance ID has appeared. Add filter allows to display a session for a specific database instance.
Software updates
The DBPLUS software is updated at least 4 times a year. Customers have access to all updates when they have a license or maintenance service. With the upgrade to the latest version, the application will run faster and smoother. Each published version provides new functionalities that allow for easier management and performance improvement in the monitored database.
