On October 9, 2020, we released a new version of Performance Monitor for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases. The most important functions added in the application are: Dashboard screen update, Standby monitor (Oracle), Always On AG monitor (SQL Server), collecting information about memory usage by user sessions.
Standby Monitor (Oracle)
In the latest version of the application, we have added the functionality of database monitoring with data replication in standby mode. For standby databases, there is a separate Replicas section in the Oracle database group. The number means how many PRIMARY databases connected to DBPLUS monitoring have configured options for replication of changes to Standby databases. Standby monitoring status depends on predefined parameters checking the number of files to be processed and delays in relation to the PRIMARY database.
Monitor Always On Availability Group
Support for Always On groups has been added to the main Dashboard screen. In the latest version, it is possible to analyze the components of the group and quickly verify which group component causes a problem with the operation of the AG group. Information about the status of a given group depends on the statuses returned from the system views as well as it is possible to define alert thresholds for each of the parameters available in the group, beyond which the information will be displayed on the Dashboard screen.
Collecting information about memory usage by user sessions
In the latest version, the ability to collect information about sessions that utilize PGA memory (Oracle) and memory utilization by sessions (SQL Server) has been added. To verify which sessions were utilizing the memory at a given moment, go to the Memory tab from the database level and click on the selected point on the graph. In this way, we will receive information about sessions using memory.
Unused indexes report
In the latest version, we have added the ability to perform a report checking the use of indexes by the database engine (SQL Server) in a given period of time. The report search for indexes that were not used by queries. The check consists in verifying whether the index was used in the execution plan in queries stored in the DBPLUS repository.
Access to software updates
The DBPLUS software is updated at least 4 times a year. Customers have access to all updates when they have a license or maintenance service. With the upgrade to the latest version, the application will run faster and smoother. Each published version provides new functionalities that allow for easier management and performance improvement in the monitored database.
